Corporal Sandra Hickey
Serving Since: October 10, 1988

The Command Staff of the Columbus Police Department has selected Corporal Sandra Hickey for Officer of the Year for 2016. This selection was based on the numerous accolades that Corporal Hickey brings to this department and herself. These commendations are constantly received from her supervisors and co-workers.

Corporal Hickey joined the Columbus Police Department on October 10, 1988. She worked in the Patrol Bureau and was transferred to the Bureau of investigative Services on July 26, 1997. She was appointed to Corporal on December 30 2006 and remained in the Bureau of Investigations where she is currently assigned as a Digital Forensic Investigator with the Special Victims Unit.

Corporal Hickey has excelled in the relatively new techniques of investigations involving digital technology. She applies her vast and complex training to all types of crimes but seems especially interested in tracking and stopping sexual predators and other violent criminals. The Department has invested deeply in sending her to various schools and training and the return has truly proven to benefit our Department and the Citizens of Columbus. Her forensic analysis of computers and cell phones has been instrumental in solving a number of homicides, robberies and sexual offences. In fact, there are very few cases that she is not called on for assistance. After the case is made, she assists in shutting the door on prosecutions by providing quality expert digital forensic testimony during high-profile trials.

Corporal Hickey makes herself and her skills readily available to all surrounding Federal, State and local Law Enforcement Agencies and has developed excellent working relationships which benefit our department with returned multi-jurisdictional cooperation.

Corporal Greene is the personification and face of the term “community policing” as it relates to the Bike Patrol. These traits and dedication clearly qualify Corporal Robert Greene to be the Columbus Police Department’s 2015 Officer of the Year.

This is only a brief summary of the qualities that clearly qualify Corporal Sandra Hickey to be the Columbus Police Department’s 2016 Officer of the Year!
