Due to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, all public entrances to the Government Center have been closed, except for the entrance located behind the Government Center Tower and the East Wing (Tag Office) entrance located on the 2nd Avenue side of the building.

As an additional precaution, all citizens entering the Government Center will be required to walk through a metal detector. All bags, purses, brief cases, etc. will also be scanned. To pass through the security checkpoint quickly, please follow the steps below:

• Remove ALL metal and electrical objects from your pockets.
• Remove rings, watches and/or bracelets.

The green and white "Public Access" / "Tag Office" signs will guide you to the Government Center Tower or East Wing (Tag Office) public entrance.
