Due to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, all public entrances to the Government Center have been closed, except for 1.) the main entrance located on the 9th Street side of the Government Center Tower, street level and 2.) the East Wing entrance on 2nd Avenue. The Second Avenue entrance facilitates access to the Tax Commissioner's Office for automobile tags and property tax.

As an additional precaution, all citizens entering the Government Center will be required to walk through a metal detector. All bags, purses, brief cases, etc. will also be scanned. To pass through the security checkpoint quickly, please follow the steps below:

• Remove ALL metal and electrical objects from your pockets.
• Remove rings, watches and/or bracelets.

The green and white "Public Access" sign will guide you to the Government Center Tower public entrance.
