Benning Park Supercenter opened its doors January 5, 2001 as part of the 1993 S.P.L.O.S.T. Sales Tax The facility is designed for the recreational needs of Columbus's residents and visitors. On March 23, 2007 Benning Park Supercenter was renamed in horor of Councilor Frank D. Chester.

Also located in the Super Center is the Frank D. Chester Recreation Center.
