FALL LINE TRACE

HISTORY

The Columbus Fall Line Trace, Columbus' Rails-to-Trails project, was constructed on land purchased by the Columbus Consolidated Government from Norfolk Southern Railroad. The project provides a 12-foot wide asphalt trail that includes: two parka nd ride/rest areas, one near Hannan Magnet Academy on Warm Springs Road and one on Manchester Expressway across from Legacy Chevrolet. Both park and ride locations include water fountains, vending machines, and restrooms, allowing people to park their vehicles and bike/jog/walk to their destination(s) or use thet rail to intersect with the METRA bus transit system at numerous points. Residents can access the trail at numerous road crossings and trail spur connectors including one at Flat Rock Park.

TRAIL ETIQUETTE
1. Yield to Pedestrians. Pedestrians always have the right-of-way.
2. Obey All Trail Signs and Rules. Stop at intersections and keep right.
3. Keep Right, Pass on the Left. The trail is like a roadway. Warn trail users as you approach from behind by announcing yourself by saying "On Your Left". If you stop, move off to the side of the trail.
4. Certain Vehicles Are Allowed. Bicycles, skateboards, rollerskates, and roller blades are permitted when used in a safe and controlled manner. No electric vehicles with more than two wheels allowed (except for physically disabled). No gasoline powered vehicles allowed (except for emergency service.)
5. Maintain a Safe Speed.
6. Keep Animals Under Control. All pets shall be on a short leash and under the control of the owner. Owners shall clean up after their animals. No horses are allowed on the trail.
7. The Trail is Closed at Certain Hours. The trail is closed from 11:00pm until 5:00am.
8. Report a Problem. In the case of an emergency, dial 911. Report maintenance problems by dialing 311.
9. Keep The Trail Clean. Please don't litter. Deposit trash in containers along the trail.
10. NO Alcoholic Beverages or Other Intoxicants Are Allowed on Trail.
