City Maintenance Crew Gets Kudos!

"Dear Councilor,

Just wanted to let you know that the city maintenance division did a GREAT job mowing and making the right away more appealing. The area that was on the schedule is from Blackmon Road to Veterans Parkway (Hancock Road). We as homeowners and citizens appreciate the city's support in continuing to make Columbus, Georgia a wonderful place to live. Thanks for your support. "

Clean Air Campaign
Kenneth Hull
kenny hull

This month, Clean Air Commuter Champion Kenneth Hull, an employee with the Columbus Police Department, will be recognized for reaching a significant milestone - 25,000 pounds of pollution reduced through the use of commute alternatives.

Hull's individual efforts have eliminated more than 12.5 tons of pollution since he started in The Clean Air Campaign's program. He has logged some 1,300 carpool commute trips and also saved more than $2,800 in commute costs.

About The Clean Air Campaign

The Clean Air Campaign is a not-for-profit organization that works with Georgia's employers, commuters and schools to encourage actions that result in less traffic congestion and better air quality.

Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Plaza Level at the Government Center

The Columbus Consolidated Government recognizes the dedication and commitment of deceased local government employees who gave so much in the service of this City. A Celebration of Life Memorial Tribute is planned for Tuesday, March 13, 2012,

4:30 PM - 5:30 PM on the Plaza Level at the Government Center.

Those who served realized the importance of their civic responsibility to take part in making this community a better place to live. Public safety officers and general government employees will be honored, who despite the inherent sacrifice involved in being part of any organization that enforces order, took pride and honor in their service.

The honorable Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and City Manager Isaiah Hugley will be among friends, relatives, and colleagues of deceased public servants to help remember, honor and pay tribute to those who served this community.

The public is invited to share in this Celebration of Life.
