The Information Technology Department's Personal Computer technicians support over 1,600 personal computers. This includes over 100 portable computers, over 100 virtual desktops, approximately forty servers (twenty virtual) on a centralized network running Windows 2003 Server, over 600 printers, and 30 networked copiers. It is very challenging to maintain hardware and software support for this number of computers. Problem calls include hardware and software issues. Service Requests included installations, training support and relocations. A T1 line supplies Internet access for approved employees and we have over 100 employees and remote sites that can remotely connect to our network. Symantec Antivirus Corporate edition protects our network from viruses. Downtown locations are connected via Fiber Optics or Wireless. We have always maintained standardization in hardware and software whenever possible. We use IBM computers, Lexmark and HP printers, Microsoft Office Suite and Lotus Notes Desktop. |
