The Gun Stoppers program was formed to protect you, your children, our schools and the public. The program provides incentives for students to report any suspicious activity to school officials. Gun Stoppers was presented to the local school system in 1997 by
Crime Stoppers. Students providing information are kept anonymous to encourage students to take an active role in keeping their school safe.
Students call the same Crime Stoppers hotline, and the information is given to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. The school principal is notified law enforcement is on the way. Once at the school, the officer will try to locate the suspect with the weapon. If the weapon is located, the person who called Gun Stoppers is eligible to receive a reward of up to $100.00
