The Training Division is responsible for all department training under the direction of the Training Division Chief. The division also conducts or coordinates all department training activities including but not limited to recruit training, fire suppression, emergency medical, rescue, officer development and other training programs as necessary to meet established state and federal mandates each year. All state certified firefighters are required to complete 240 hours of annual recertification training, far more than any other public safety agency.

The division coordinates candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). The CPAT physical examination is the most stringent in all of public safety.

The division also conducts public education programs and fire and medical training programs to other departments and industry.
